Cathy: I had really low expectations going into this, but I was surprised - pleasantly isn't the right word for it, but it was definitely better than the title makes it sound. "Rancid" is how Matthew Settle's character describes the state of his life, a struggling writer stuck in a self-destructive loop. A high school reunion brings two rivals back into each others' lives and sets up a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. The plot twists were pretty well written, for a change, and the roles were mostly well-acted (Matthew does a fine job, but a few of the supporting characters are a little iffy). I'd say it's worth a rental, especially if you like to watch Matthew without a shirt on.
